Hyphen helps to deliver biggest LUSH shop in Germany

We recently helped to deliver the biggest LUSH shop in Germany, so big – it’s now the brand’s second largest shop in Europe! Spread across 689 sqm, LUSH Munich is located in a protected area of the city, in the heart of Marienplatz square, and provides customers with the ultimate brand experience.

As well as delivering LUSH’s new concept design, one of our key roles on this project was to enhance the building’s original features and this included replacing the balustrade of the old staircase. Having rolled-out over 40 LUSH projects worldwide, this is the second largest shop that we’ve delivered for the brand, following the opening of LUSH Liverpool, in the UK, earlier this year.

Inspired by traditional retailers and revitalisation of the customer experience, this destination shop includes a florist, perfume library, fair trade coffee kiosk and an activist community space. Replacing the need for excess packaging with a digital solution, Lush Lens kiosks are also located at various points around the shop so that customers can scan tag-free gifts to find out more about the plastic packaging-free contents inside. As well as three floors of retail space, LUSH have also dedicated an additional floor to offices, training and break-out spaces for staff.

Speaking about the project, architect at Hyphen, Arlin Trägler said:

“Flexibility was key on this project as this allowed LUSH to develop their products whilst work was being undertaken on site. It was also an important consideration when designing the temporary space on the second floor, which is currently being used as a Christmas Wonderland. The project took around a year to complete and one of our biggest challenges was ensuring that the shop opened in time for the festive season. We overcame this challenge through collaboration, and it was a pleasure working with our friends at LUSH, Baierl & Demmelhuber, Philipp und Knoll, Ecup engineering GmbH, Reiser Tragwerksplanung and Müller-BBM GmbH on this project –  we’re absolutely thrilled with the result!”
