Business development manager

Are you a passionate about winning work, interested in architecture and design, and looking to develop your career? If so, Hyphen is looking for a business development manager to join our growing international practice (recently ranked as a World Architecture 100 firm), based in London or Madrid.

Reporting to the Head of BD, who is based in Madrid, you’ll be encouraged to travel and collaborate with colleagues from each of Hyphen’s offices across Europe and Latin America, so you’ll quickly feel part of a friendly and supportive team.

In addition, our hybrid working approach means that you’ll be able to work remotely for up to three days each week with the remaining time in either our London or Madrid office (Please say which you’d prefer in your application).

The role

As BD Manager you’ll work alongside our international business development team and leadership team (including C-suite executives and directors), to support Hyphen’s growth by identifying and building relationships with potential clients in relevant commercial sectors.

You’ll be responsible for researching and tracking our target markets, attending industry events and participating in client meetings and pitches, primarily in the UK, Spain or Latin America or with those looking to enter the relevant local market.  You’ll also work with our communications team on bids and social media engagement.

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and experience in architecture, design, engineering or construction is an advantage, particularly in retail, logistics, workplace and data centre sectors.
  • Business Administration or International Relations background
  • An entrepreneurial and engaging approach
  • Experience in corporate B2B (service)
  • Great organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and see things through
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a strong team player and credible working with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Five years’ experience in the local market (the UK, Spain or Latin America)
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (proficiency in Spanish and/or other language relevant to our geographic reach would also be advantageous).
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience in CRM software
