We interviewed Eric to find out more.

Tell us about your background…

I am a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)engineer, qualifying from the University of Santiago in 2015. I began working in the industry after graduating, first working as a supervisor in HVAC works and then moving on to projects in the retail, residential, healthcare, and industrial sectors, for the next seven years.

Today I work as a mechanical engineer, giving technical support in HVAC and public health projects, using AutoCAD and Revit software.

What projects are you working on?

I am working on projects in the residential and retail sectors. This includes a series of collaborations with the PVH team, for its Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands. I’ve been working closely with my colleagues in the MEP team as well as cross-office collaborations with our architectural teams in the UK.

Tell us about the MEP team…

Hyphen’s MEP division is relatively new, set up in 2021 to add more value to clients, as well as speed and quality. We have a great team of engineers, we are growing, and we complement each other very well. I had the opportunity to spend some time in London recently with the whole team.  As a team we are always looking for ways to improve coordination, while ensuring the Hyphen quality and timely delivery of projects. One way we have been doing this is with the use of BIM, which has successfully been implemented in the first few projects and will undoubtedly serve us well in the future as we grow.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to play basketball, go to the gym, watch movies and TV Shows, hang out with friends, and listen to music.

What is the best thing about life at Hyphen?

For me, the best thing is the challenge that comes with doing projects for other countries, with other regulations, other standards, and another language. It is also the people I work with – the MEP team, and my colleagues in Santiago and the UK. I really enjoy working with international colleagues of different disciplines.
