We interviewed Felipe to find out more…

What are you interests outside of work?

Right now, I am a father, architect, and teacher.

In my free time, I spend time with my family, watch television series’ with my wife and play video games with friends online. On the weekends, I like to build wooden furniture for my home.

It has always been easy for me to share knowledge and experience, so I am passionate about doing this with my friends, in the office and in the classes I teach.

What attracted you to your role at Hyphen?

After graduating, I had the privilege of working on a wide range of projects, including high-rise buildings, museums, malls, masterplans, contests and interior design. However, Hyphen has given me the opportunity to specialise on work in the data centre sector and to work with colleagues in many different countries. It has been a very interesting new challenge.

I really enjoy working with excellent people and professionals. At this moment in the office in Santiago, Chile, we have an excellent group, so there is a very good working environment.

What kind of projects have you worked on at Hyphen

I’ve worked on retail stores in Barcelona and Mansfield and masterplans and code analysis for hyperscale data centres in Chile and Uruguay. Since then, I have been leading our development on three hyperscale data centres for another global client expanding in the Latin American region.

What inspired you to become an architect?

I am the first architect in my family, but as a child I was interested in knowing the shape and history of different buildings. In addition, crafts have always been easy for me, so architecture began to attract my attention when I was 15 years old.

What’s next for you?

In professional terms, I would like to continue growing with Hyphen. Through knowledge exchange and continuing professional development, we can build on our current strengths and progress.

In personal terms, I would like to continue promoting the teaching of architecture with a master’s degree, and I am keen to practice my English more and more through conversations and collaborations with my international colleagues, consultant partners and clients.
