Hyphen recognised again in AJ100 2025: A focus on diversity and inclusion

By:

We’re pleased to announce that Hyphen has once again featured in the prestigious AJ100, the annual ranking of the UK’s largest architectural practices, placing at number 49, up slightly from 51 last year. This recognition highlights our steady growth but, importantly, shines a spotlight on our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, one of the key themes identified in this year’s AJ100 survey.

At Hyphen, inclusivity and respect are fundamental parts of our identity and shape how we collaborate, deliver projects, and engage with our clients and teams. Our continued progress is clear:

  • 52% of our employees are women.
  • We’ve proactively published our gender pay gap data since 2018, choosing transparency beyond statutory requirements.
  • Women now hold 52% of senior roles, up significantly from 40% in 2023.
  • Hyphen is ranked 8th in the AJ100 for employing architects from an ethnic minority background (35% of our architects).

“Being part of the AJ100 is always something to celebrate, but what matters even more is seeing our long-term commitment to diversity and inclusion making a real difference. For us, transparency, accountability, and meaningful action aren’t just words – they’re how we measure success.”

Alan Cheyne, Managing director, UK and Ireland

Ultimately, recognition in the AJ100 reinforces our ambition to be advisors trusted by our clients, partners, and employees. Looking ahead, our priority remains building a culture driven by our unique know-how, shared mindset, and commitment to close collaboration.
