Data centre London Docklands

This project involved the conversion of six floors within a 1980s office block to create 6,000 square metres of lettable data hall space, on a confined site.

The design included a seven-storey energy centre building, located between two existing office blocks, housing generators, transformers and electrical switchgear. Chillers and cooling were housed in a new compound above the existing roof.

Introducing ten-metre-long generators into the six-metre-wide infill building created a challenge. Our solution was to site the crane in the new vertical air shaft so that the generators could be lifted into the building.
