This award-winning data centre is one of the largest air-cooled buildings in the world and set a new ‘green’ standard for this technology, with a PUE of 1.16 for the data halls.
Together, with engineers from Norman Disney & Young, we were part of a team for a Phase 1, part-conversion of a 30,000 square metre warehouse into a data centre with 10,000 square metres of white space.
Paul Davis, senior architect at Hyphen. says, “In light of rapidly-escalating fuel costs, this project required experts from diverse fields to look at new ideas for power and cooling by using the outside coastal air in this locality. Entering the vast spaces and fans for the air handling plant was like walking into a villain’s lair in a James Bond movie set.”
