Rio AI City

Hyphen is collaborating with Elea Data Centers on the concept and masterplan for Rio AI City, a new AI-ready data centre district integrating technology, community and landscape in Rio de Janeiro.

Set within Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Park, Rio AI City is a 900,000 m² masterplan for Elea Data Centers that brings digital infrastructure into the fabric of urban life. The project combines more than 30 modular AI-ready data centre buildings with offices, retail, hospitality and public spaces, creating an open and connected district where technology, community and landscape coexist.

Working in close partnership with Elea Data Centers and international collaborators from the earliest advisory stages, Hyphen is leading the concept design and masterplanning. The campus is designed to operate on 100% renewable energy, with green façades, biodiversity corridors and water retention systems that integrate the surrounding Mata Atlântica ecosystem.

Sixty percent of the site is dedicated to parks and shared spaces, transforming the former Olympic Park site into a new hub for technology, innovation and urban life. Recognised internationally, including multiple 2025 DCD LatAm Awards and selection as a WAF 2025 finalist, Rio AI City demonstrates how sustainable data infrastructure can deliver long-term value for cities, communities and investors alike.
