Laura Vatteroni

Associate

Laura originally joined Hyphen in 2015, in London, initially as a technician, before becoming an architect in 2016, and an associate in Milan in 2022. In London, Laura worked on a wide range of retail projects for some of the world’s most well-known brands.

During the pandemic, however, Laura made the decision to leave the UK to return to her native Italy. This initially meant leaving Hyphen, but Laura soon had the opportunity to collaborate with us in Italy as a freelance architect, working this time with our Milan office. What was meant to be a short collaboration led to a job offer for a permanent position in Milan.

Since then, Laura has been instrumental to our success in Milan, bringing a wealth of experience in retail architecture to collaborate with clients, consultants and colleagues on a host of key projects. Laura also works closely with our Milan director, Giacomo Spinelli, in developing our business in Italy.

About Laura

What do you enjoy most about working at Hyphen?

I really enjoy the working environment and the people. Since the first meeting with Alan Cheyne, Director of our London office, and Eddie Miles, Hyphen CEO, I found that it was a very welcoming and young working environment.

What’s the most interesting place that you’ve ever visited for work?

New York. We were developing a framework with a client for ten projects across the UK. I was the project runner and it was an introductory meeting to get to know the designer and team. I like my job because it allows me to travel so far and to see such amazing cities. The atmosphere and the skyscrapers were amazing.

I have also had the opportunity to work in Porto on more than one occasion.

What’s your favourite local delicacy?

In Florence there is panino con lampredotto, a sandwich made with the fourth stomach of the cow. It’s something that you don’t find elsewhere in Italy. It’s just from Florence and some parts of Tuscany and it’s amazing.

If you could deliver a project any place in the world, where would you deliver it?

The United States, or somewhere like Brazil or Mexico.
