From first conversations to concept design, Hyphen and Elea Data Centers aligned early on a new kind of digital infrastructure – connected to people, place, and purpose.
From the beginning, our work with Elea Data Centers on Rio AI City has been driven by a shared belief – that digital infrastructure can do more. For a long time, data centres were treated as isolated, industrial buildings, kept out of sight, and often out of mind. But that’s changing.
In the case of Rio AI City, it’s being replaced by something else entirely: a digital ecosystem that’s embedded in the city, connected to local life, and designed with people in mind. And it started with the right conversations, at the right time.
In this short video, Elea’s Chairman and Founder, Alessandro Lombardi and Hyphen’s Matías Menichetti reflect on what made that possible and the value of aligning early on vision, ambition and approach.
“You want to build a digital infrastructure that is connected to the people, to the city – inside the city.”
Alessandro Lombardi, Elea Data Centers
This vision guided our strategic advice, steered every decision and informing every aspect of our approach.
Together, we developed the concept design and master plan for Rio AI City, a strategic, multi-phase campus designed to support AI and cloud computing at scale, while integrating seamlessly into its urban, environmental and cultural context.
This kind of work requires more than architectural skill. It relies on trust, timing, and a shared mindset, and it’s where Hyphen adds the most value.
