As data centres get larger, closer to urban populations and environmental regulation increases, it’s getting increasingly difficult to find suitable sites and gain planning approval. We take a holistic approach, with an eye for design detail and an understanding of the engineering drivers, to help our clients navigate planning authorities, gain building permits and deliver data centres across Europe and Latin America.

Hyphen brings over 30 years’ experience in the data centre industry, with more than 2GW of data centre development designed and over 6GW masterplanned in the last three years. We’ve delivered privately owned and built-to-suit hyperscale designs for major cloud providers, as well as colocation and edge data centres in metropolitan areas. Our track record includes BIM delivery since 2006 – up to BIM level 2, LOD 300-500 – and highly resilient, Uptime Institute Tier III designs.

Our international reach spans 11 offices and over 100 permits secured for data centre projects. We support EU rollouts for colocation providers and advise on site selection, code compliance, and regional expansion across Latin America and beyond. We also develop US standard data centre models for EMEA, adapting to local codes and construction practices.

Sustainability is at the heart of our approach, with award-winning low energy designs, innovative cooling solutions, including direct, indirect, and sea/dock-water cooling, and integrated landscape and biodiversity strategies from the earliest planning stages.
