Hyphen listed in WA100 ranking for third time

We’re in the WA100 big list of the largest architectural practices in the world for the third consecutive year!

Compiled by Building Design, the WA100 ranks the largest architectural practices in the world, measured by the number of fee-earning architects employed. In at number 83, Hyphen has more than 100 qualified architects and a full team of over 200 professionals, in multiple international locations.

Each year, the WA100 long list is published in a guide, alongside a series of top 10s, identifying the leading practices by geographical location, market sector, and service specialisms.

We are delighted that Hyphen enters the retail top 10 for the first time and retains a place in the regional shortlist of practices in Latin America, which are both determined by fee income over the past 12 months.

Our placement at number 10 in the retail sector follows a strong year for Hyphen’s architectural and MEP teams, collaborating with some of the world’s most recognised brands across Europe, Latin America, and Asia. We worked with our client partners and colleagues in a wide range of environments, from airports and heritage buildings to malls and pop-up stores – all with the common goal of creating high-quality brand experiences, informed by more than 30 years’ experience in the retail sector.

WA100’s top 10 of practices in South and Central America places Hyphen as the seventh largest in the region, moving up one place, after our first appearance at eighth in 2023. Our Latin American teams have made significant progress over the past few years, with our team in Chile tripling in size in 2022 and the establishment of a new office in Mexico City last year, to increase our capacity and extend our reach throughout the region.

Eddie Miles, CEO at Hyphen, says, “We are proud to see Hyphen in the WA100 for the third consecutive year, and to see our progress in the retail sector and Latin America reflected in this year’s guide.

“Retail has always been important to us at Hyphen and to me on a personal level. I was planning my first store with the company in the 1990s and have seen firsthand how we have grown to become a market leader in the sector. Our work in retail has also given me the opportunity to publish Contemporary Retail Design – A Store Planner’s Handbook and write the retail chapter of the Metric Handbook (seventh edition).

“Last year Hyphen added a Mexico City office to complement our presence in Santiago, Chile, so it is interesting to see us as the 7th largest in the region. This is a testament to Matias Menichetti who has grown our Santiago office brilliantly over recent years as well as Jimena Etchegaray who established our Mexican office. The Latin American market has a huge variety of cultures, plenty of opportunities and as we have discovered, great people to work with. Buena suerte!”
