We’re proud to join the UN’s Race to Zero campaign

By:

In our Net Zero Statement, we are committing to halve our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero before 2050. Although 2050 seems a long way off, this commitment is based on the SME Climate Hub framework which supports small and medium sized enterprises, such as Hyphen, to commit to net zero targets and is recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign.

A ‘One Hyphen’ approach, delivered through local offices

All present and future Hyphen offices will be involved in this strategy and share a common framework which includes a commitment to:

  • Quantify our operational greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on a yearly basis, using Normative, a carbon accounting engine.
  • Reduce absolute scope 1** and 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from 2021 as a base year, and to be Net Zero by 2050.
  • Set an action plan to reduce scope 3 business travel emissions gradually from the base year (2021) and to complete this reduction with high-quality certified GHG removal initiatives. This will help achieve a global reduction of 50% by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050.
  • Implement plans of reducing supply chain scope 3 emissions. This will be achieved by setting environmental management plans.

Each office will also have specific greenhouse gas management plans in which actions include moving to renewable energy sources and systems in our offices, establishing a business travel carbon budget, prioritising travel by rail rather than air, promoting video calls for meetings, and establishing a carbon compensation fund which will be invested in carbon removal initiatives.

Thank you to Ricardo, Anne, Charlotte, Doreen, Nikoletta, Pablo, and Rémi for their work and contribution to the development of our sustainability strategy.
