Five months after opening, Hyphen’s Mumbai office has grown to 10 architectural professionals. The team is now working across the wider practice while establishing a base for Hyphen’s architectural advisory work in India.
Hyphen’s move into India is part of its continued development across Asia-Pacific, following its expansion into Latin America and Australia. Mumbai provides access to India’s architectural and technical talent, as well as a platform for further work in the country and wider region.
The office is led by Bhavna Muttreja Jain, who has more than 17 years of architectural experience across India, Malaysia, Canada and the United States, spanning residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use and healthcare projects. Bhavna is also a LEED Green Associate and regional lead for Women in BIM India. Across the Mumbai team, colleagues bring a combined 75 years of architectural experience.
Working across markets
Colleagues in Mumbai are already supporting projects and clients across Europe, Australia and Latin America. As the team develops, professional development is focused on Hyphen’s processes, building information modelling (BIM) standards and quality assurance procedures.
This provides a common framework for teams working across different locations, with technical standards, design quality and a client-focused approach remaining central as the office develops.
Looking ahead
Further recruitment is planned over the coming months, with the Mumbai team expected to grow by around 50 per cent by the end of 2026. The next stage will build on the team already in place while developing further opportunities for Hyphen in India and across Asia-Pacific.
The growth of Hyphen’s Mumbai team was recently featured in Construction World and Build in Digital.
